HISTORY OF THE GOLDEN VALLEY FIRE DISTRICT

The Golden Valley Volunteer Fire Company was founded September 2, 1975.

The fire department was established with resolution number 1116, and covered 171 square miles.

The approximate border landmarks are (East to West) the base of the Cerbat Mountains to the base

of the Black Mountains.  North to South from Mohave Estates to portions of Oatman Road.

SoHi Estates petitioned and was annexed into the fire district in September of 1979.

In 1980, the department provided emergency medical care, maintaining at least one Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on duty.

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors approved the order to rename and reorganize the Golden Valley Volunteer Fire Company to the Golden Valley Fire Department in September of 1984.

Funds are drawn from real property and personal property taxes, distributed and processed by the County Treasurer's Office in Kingman.

The success of the department depended on many generous donations,

and of course, the devoted volunteers.
